US wants peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue: Senator McCain

A delegation of American Senators held a meeting with Foreign Affairs Advisor, Sartaj Aziz in Islamabad on Sunday.

US law makers’ arrival in Pakistan is being considered of great significance for  Pakistan-American relations as Indians are still in hangover of what they call a successful meet between Prime Minister Narendra Modi with President Donald J. Trump during former’s recent visit to Washington.

According to foreign office statement, during the meeting , views were exchanged on matters of bilateral interest and overall situation in the region.

The delegation includes John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Sheldon Whitehouse, Elizabeth Warren, and David Perdue.

Meanwhile, talking to official Television Channel, PTV, Senator John McCain said that Pakistan has a significant role for establishment of peace and stability in Afghanistan.

He said peace and stability in Afghanistan is not possible without Pakistan’s help.

To a question, John McCain said Kashmir issue should be resolved in peaceful way through negotiation. He said that US wants end to violence in Kashmir. He said the US will continue its policy regarding Kashmir issue and no change has been made in this regard.
