India’s legendary field and track sprint, Milkha Singh has called upon both New Delhi and Islamabad to resume sporting relations, hoping that sports can help improve the ties between the two nuclear armed South Asian neighbours.

“In sports, our teams should go there (Pakistan) and their teams should come here,” Singh, popularly known as ‘the Flying Sikh’, said.

According to Indian media, the octogenarian sportsman said that sports had nothing to do with the politics.

“I would ask both Pakistan and India that it would be better if they live with love and affection… We should play games as much as possible as sports help in developing friendship,” Singh said.

Due to estranged diplomatic relations, India and Pakistan have not exchanged teams of any sports over the last two years.
