The murder of Ravinder Singh, the 25-year-old Sikh youth killed by unknown assailants in North-Western Pakistan province of Khyber PakhtoonKhawa has turned out to be a job of hitmen hired by his fiancee.
Ravinder Singh a cloth merchant in Malaysia , had come to Pakistan for his marriage with a girl named Prem Kumari. He was soon murdered in Mardan city. His body was later dumped in Peshawar, the capital city of Khyber PakhtoonKhawa province.
“It was a contract killing paid for by Ravinder Singh’s fiancee Prem Kumari who did not want to marry him,” Peshawar police said on Friday.
“She promised the hitmen a sum of Rs 7 lakh (US $ 6400) for Ravinder’s murder. Part of the committed amount was paid in advance, while the remaining was to be paid after the murder,” the police said.
Ravinder Singh belonged to Shangla district in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and was travelling to Peshawar for his wedding shopping.
However, the hitmen killed him in Mardan on Sunday last and dumped his body at a deserted place.
The police also revealed that the hitmen also called the family from Ravinder’s phone to demand ransom aimed at diverting any investigation into the contract killing.
“All this was done to divert any investigations into the murder,” the police said.
