Pakistani actress Mahira Khan has created history by becoming the first Pakistani actress to make a debut at Cannes Film Festival in France, according to media reports.
For the red carpet on Monday evening, Mahira Khan opted for a tube black dress with minimal makeup. She completed her look by accessorising it with a silver neckpiece and earrings. Just before the debut, she had tweeted, “On my way you guys.. the dress didn’t turn up, but it’s raining and I’m nervous but maybe it’s a sign.” Mahira shared stunning pictures on Instagram out of which in one of them she can be seen overlooking the blue waters, wearing a white top with a colorful dark-blue shrug. The caption read, “Feelin’ blue never felt so good.” The L’oreal brand ambassador gave major fashion goals by opting the perfect summer outfits during promotions.
The 71st Cannes Film Festival also provided an opportunity to Mahira Khan to meet Bollywood actress, Sonam Kapoor. Both the actresses, shared a warm moment of greeting each other.
Both the starlets walked the red carpet for cosmetics giant L’Oreal Paris, but before they stepped out, they shared a warm moment together – as seen in a photograph doing the rounds on social media.
“Can’t wait to hang out with you at Cannes,” Sonam had earlier tweeted to Mahira, who has made her debut at the gala this time.
Mahira dedicated her representation at Cannes as an “ode to the people I have loved so much…. and have inspired me since I was a little girl. Starting from my Ama to Minaal and Rooha… down to all my girls back home in Pakistan.”
For Khan, the experience was an opportunity – not only to walk the longest and reddest red carpet of her life, but to present to the world a side of Pakistan less-known.
“There are many, many facets to Pakistan, and for people… like me – musicians, artists, actors, writers – to go out and travel abroad… it just gives other people a better understanding of who we are,” she was quoted by Pakistani media.
